child carers
In co-operation with The Sunday Times Magazine - and thanks to the generosity of many of its readers—MIRACLES supports a number of individual cases of youngsters who have spent their childhoods caring for sick and disabled parents.
Christian and his family went to Tenerife for New Year—thanks to MIRACLES and another very special Sunday Times reader. A very talented youngster, Christian was selected to represent the North of England in the Festival4Stars finals in Glasgow—with MIRACLES’ sponsorship. His voice and artistic skills greatly impressed the judges who voted him runner-up in his group.
Our picture shows Christian and his proud Mum, Berenice, at the 2009 Festival in which, this time, he topped his group.
Lauren and Nikki Malins have become very much a part of the MIRACLES’ Family since we met them through Caroline Scott’s ‘Life In A Day’ article.
Problems don’t get any easier but Nikki and Lauren still face them with courage— and the knowledge that MIRACLES is always there for them.
Another such case referred to us by Social Services was that of Francesca, the registered carer for her poorly Mum. Her brother is fighting in Afghanistan. When Mum needs hospital treatment MIRACLES sends Francesca on holiday to a special riding centre in Skegness where she can enjoy a respite from her duties and a little fun in her life.
