Truly a ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’, our Midsummer Dinner Cruise took place on Friday, 19th June 2009, when at 8.0 pm 84 guests boarded The Silver Barracuda at Waterloo Millenium Pier - right under the London Eye.
Greeted with Bellini Cocktails and Canapes on the upper deck we sailed into the sunset from The Houses of Parliament to the Millennium Dome, enjoying a sumptuous dinner created for us by Rhubarb on the River.
The Auction, conducted by Will O’Reilly with the help of star guest, Christopher Biggins, caused quite a stir with such gifts as a holiday in Uruguay, ten days in Verbier and the chance to spend Burns Night in the Highlands of Scotland.
After dinner was dancing and romancing until the magic hour of Midnight when we disembarked having raised some £20,000 for Miracles work in Bosnia and here at home.
Our thanks go to Silvia Gil-Alberdi and her Event Committee – and some extremely generous guests who helped make Miracles Midsummer Dinner Cruise one of the best Miracles events ever.

The Bacchanalia Wine Society overlooking the River Thames and hosted by our Star of Miracles, Christopher Biggins.
Our wonderful friends at Haciendas de Espana laid on a very special and truly memorable wine tasting party for us—including a vintage Cava reception, sumptuous wines and cold tapas from their own farm near Salamanca.
During the evening guests were shown a short film by Francois Pereire featuring Miracles’ major projects in Bosnia followed by the auction which was as a hilarious double act by Christopher Biggins and Will O’Reilly and included a Harlequins signed rugby ball and a walk-on part in the new Bill Nighy/Pete Posslethwaite film, ‘I was Bono’s Doppleganger’!
The Bacchanalia Wine Society was the perfect venue for such a party and we are deeply grateful for their generosity and kindness and for all the effort they made to create for us an extra special event.

13th MARCH 2010
Once again the treasures of Goodwood House delighted the Miracles guests from near and far who attended this 15th annual event in its glorious Sussex setting.
This year it was a double celebration as the date coincided with the 40th Birthday of our wonderful voluntary caseworker, Sharon Hansell, for whom some special treats were laid on.
In Theo’s speech she presented Miracles’ Annual Review for 2009 which includes a special mention of the work Sharon does. Then, following a tribute toast, a birthday cake was brought in along with the huge blue-nose bear donated by Carte Blanche Greetings for the occasion.
Once again Frances Newman took the pictures and copies are available from Smile Event Photography. e.mail info@smileevent.co.uk.
Pictured (right) is Sharon with her Birthday Bear, some of miracles' Spanish friends and a group of friends of Robert and Anna Bean.
