‘Probably the best Miracles’ event ever’ – that was how many of our guests described the Miracles’ Christmas Soiree held in The Garden Room at Hampton Court Palace on Saturday, 3rd December 2011.
It was certainly an enchanting venue, dressed as a Winter Wonderland with Christmas trees and fairy lights. The Broad Gallery generously put on a Silent Auction of their sought-after prints and some superb prizes were donated for the Tombola, both of which added to the live auction to produce a profit of over £40,000 .
The auction, conducted by Christies’ International auctioneer, Hugh Edmeades, was spectacular with prizes including a designer necklace by Marcella Alatorre modelled by Teresa Vaca, an Armani Coat, Tea at The House of Lords with Paddy Ashdown and three fabulous weeks in Uruguay, South Africa and Marrakech.

But the Wow Factor was created by our mystery guest who was no less a personage than Henry VIII himself (alias Ellis Pike, Hampton Court’s resident lookalike!)
153 guests – many of whom were new to Miracles – watched a presentation of slides depicting the various children in Miracles’ care followed by a heartrending appeal by Miracles’ Founder, Theo Ellert. After this they were entertained by one of Miracles’ Child Carers – now nineteen-year-old Christian Lunn - an extremely talented tenor who created a magic of his very own.
Barely a dry eye was in the room when the auction began but with help from "The King" the mood soon turned to ‘merriment’ which lasted until the early hours.
Watch out Hampton Court: Miracles will definitely be back next year.
