Miracles Gala Dinner

Plaisterers' Hall

Saturday March 16th

On Saturday 16 March 2019 Miracles held its annual Gala Dinner at Plaisterers Hall, London – a beautiful venue tucked in behind St Paul’s and next to the historic London Wall.

This year’s gala dinner committee was headed up by Rodrigo Rodriguez, who lead a wonderful team: Helena Clavel – Flores, Ben Williams, Nayke Garcia, Dominic Lynch and James Burton.

The theme was pink and over 150 guests joined in to raise funds for Miracles work for the coming year and to have a great time doing so.  We are still counting funds raised and will release the final tally mid June - watch this space.

One of the highlights of the dinner was the Miracles Art Gallery – a broad selection of donated art from some of the UK’s finest artists (see the full catalogue here) – highlights included a Gerald Scarfe limited edition print ‘The Magician’ – a satirical portrait of Theresa May’s handling of Brexit - which sold for £800. In addition, there were two donated Matisse lithographs from the Broad Gallery, a Sue Ryder oil, a portrait by James Lloyd and an exquisite sea-scape from Michael Ewart – and much more.  Also on display was the work of the sculptor Carol Peace – she donated a piece entitle Winter Sun which raised over £3,000 - her work was on sale during the evening and she generously donated a % of each sale to Miracles.

The evening was peppered with speeches and presentations from the team outlining our work - both Rodrigo and Helena spoke passionately about the charity’s impact on families living in poverty and their pride in being able to support the direct action Miracles undertakes to mitigate their pain and suffering. The moving film shown on the evening can be watched here.

The dinner closed with a live auction expertly run by Arlene Blankers from Christies - she generously gave her time for free to Miracles. Lot’s included two weeks’ work experience at the Financial Times and Depop, a two-week holiday in Jose Ignacio, a week’s break in New Hampshire and a chance to take part in the Monte Carlo Road Rally.

Miracles would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the dinner - from all our wonderful guests through to every company and individual who donated a prize (see full list here) – their continued support is what keeps us going. A full list of sponsors from the evening can be found here.
