Miracles goes electronic to counter Covid-19 impact.....
Miracles fundraising has been decimated by Covid-19 – every dinner, event and activity we had planned for this year has been cancelled leaving us wondering how we will survive the next few months. Yet calls for support from families living in poverty continue – from food shortages to help paying the bills to hospital transport costs and accommodation - parents with children in hospital cannot travel on public transport as their children will be immune compromised.
So on the last Saturday in May, we held a small, virtual dinner, which we supported with an online auction (Jumblebee). Guests were invited to host their own dinner at home and support Miracles through bidding for some pretty wonderful prizes including Hermes and Akris scarves, tea for two with Sir Peter Bottomley at the House of Commons, two nights at the Andaz hotel, tickets for Goodwood Revival, signed sporting memorabilia, Valentino handbag, Penhaligons perfume, Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses and so much more – full list of prizes and sponsors can be found here.
We are still counting but we raised approximately £20,000 from auction bids, dinner tickets and donations – huge thank you to all involved – all the wonderful donors and guests who took part.
We are planning our next auction in November – in time for Christmas. If you are looking for an amazing bargain and at the same time support a wonderful UK children’s charity, then let me know and I’ll make sure you get an exclusive opportunity to make the first bid. James
